Mr. Hansard will discuss his experience working on Virginia history projects. He will specifically talk about the research and writing process for nonfiction works that cover local and statewide history topics.
Gregory J. Hansard teaches history and museum studies at John Tyler Community College in Chester, Virginia. He previously worked at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture as Manager of Web and Digital Resources and as Assistant Editor of Publications. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, where he played varsity baseball, and a masters of arts in history from Virginia State University. He is the author of German Sailors in Hampton Roads: A World War I Story at the Norfolk Navy Yard (History Press, 2018), and he is currently working on a book on Virginia cider with University of Virginia Press. His research interests include military history, colonial food and drink, sports history, and Virginia history.
